Teatro La Fenice, Venezia, Italia.

La Fenice Teatro is located in the heart of Venice and is one of the most famous landmarks in the history of Italian theatre and history of opera. It is a must see for any admirer of the arts, architecture enthusiast, cultural explorer, tourist or human with a passion for music or Italian theatre.

La Fenice Teatro has been the location of many world premieres in the world of opera from grand names such as RossiniBelliniDonizetti, and Verdi in the 19th century.

La Fenice Teatro has endured it’s fair share of tragedy since it’s inception, having survived three fires and being re-built on three separate occasions by architects such as Gianantonio Selva, Tommaso and Giovanni Battista Meduna and Aldo Rossi.

The symbol of Teatro La Fenice is the Phoenix. The Phoenix is a mythical bird. It dies in fire, born again and rises from the ashes. Fenice is an Italian word meaning ‘Phoenix’. The theatre is a symbol of resistance.

On the audio guided tour, music lovers and tourists have a chance to see the heart of the great hall from the prestigious royal box of La Fenice Teatro. The royal box was originally suppose to be a temporary addition to the theatre but it became a permanent feature over time. It is a splendid opportunity to see the main theatre through the eyes of the elite in modern day Italian society.

Maria Callas was an American born Greek soprano who first arrives into Italy in 1947. It was at la Fenice where her career and artistic life had a fundamental shift in change of vocal which led her into the Italian opera. During her time in Italy she sung in many major theatres, notably Teatro La Scala in Milano, although La Teatro Fenice Di Venezia holds a special place in Maria Callas musical journey. The theatre pays tribute to the star on a daily basis with a permanent photographic exhibition dedicated to the divine opera star who loved her time in the city.

There are five other rooms in the La Fenice to explore titled ‘The Sale Apollinee’, named after the Greek God Apollo, father of the muses, patron of the arts (including music). The layout of these five rooms date back to 1937. The main bar is titled “Sala Dante” which is where people can gather and enjoy a refreshing drink together. The main room of the five rooms is known as the “Sala Grande” which is an elegant ballroom used for balls, chamber music concerts, conferences or book launches, and rehearsals. A beautiful setting for the arts and immaculate in design.
